HOW TO ESTABLISH PUG?

Herders who know each other well and share their pastures in several seasons of the year will form PUGs.

Areas of activity for PUGs

  • Use of pastures without degradation, on schedule, according to carrying capacity,
  • Improving animal health and quality
  • Herders increase their income.

Step by step, discuss how many sections and groups can be established in the traditional pasture use format.

Step 2, the PUG member family is identified.

Step 3, PUG members will map the boundaries of their shared pastures. PUG pastures are limited to livestock pastures for herder households in the group

Step Four, Once the boundaries and membership of the PUgs have been clarified, the boundaries will be discussed and approved by the Bagh Citizens' Public Meeting, based on the views of neighboring units, groups and herder households.

Step 7: Pasture use protection plans or issues such as drawing maps, establishing a mutual fund, improving pastures, improving livestock quality, and increasing profits will be discussed at a general meeting and a joint decision will be made.
