Leading the development of an action plan for activities related to celebrating the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists as the Secretary-General
As part of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, 102 countries have submitted their letters of support, along with 465 supporting organizations (international supporting group), 11 supporting groups with approximately 50 members (global coordinating group), and around 30 individuals, including three international secretaries and cooperation officers, working on a daily basis, contributing around 400 hours of volunteer work.
This voluntary coalition focuses on raising public awareness about healthy, productive rangelands and the sustainable development of nomadic herders, while addressing the global knowledge gaps that exist. The process is aimed at improving the capacity of the livestock sector and increasing responsible investment in the sector.
During the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, the co-chairs and secretaries of sub-working groups organized a discussion, presenting the work that has been done so far and outlining the activities planned for the future.
