COOPERATION UNDERWAY FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF AN GLOBAL POLICY DIALOGUE

Ms. Anu Verma, Regional Coordinator for Asia of the International Land Coalition (ILC), and Mr. Stefano Di Gessa, Senior Specialist for Impact, Regionalization and Learning, visited Mongolia. During the visit, the delegation worked in Ulaanbaatar city and Bornuur soum of Tuv aimag to support preparations for the “Global Policy Dialogue” to be organized in Mongolia from 9–14 June this year within the framework of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP 2026) and the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17).

Roadmap for future digital livestock advisory ecosystem in Mongolia with a focus on integrated functionalities in the Nuudelchin environment as well as stakeholder coordination mechanisms

During the seminar, participants evaluated the current status, objectives, and key directions of the unified digital livestock system and identified areas for further development and improvement. They discussed registering each high-yield livestock, such as yaks and semi intensified farmed animals. Additionally, they exchanged ideas on increasing the system's cost-effectiveness and efficiency, fully integrating herders into electronic services, and improving the user interface.

In Mongolia, there are two national networks for monitoring and assessing the condition of rangelands. One of these networks, operated by the NAHEM and the ALACAG, monitors and evaluates rangeland ecosystem activities and their changes at the regional and national levels. The photo-monitoring network, under the Ministry of Land Management, monitors and evaluates the impact of rangeland use, including its effects.
