TOUR TO THE HOMELAND OF MONGOLIAN NOMADS

The National Federation of Pasture User Groups (NFPUG) is a national NGO representing the vital interests of Mongolian herders and is engaged in a wealth of activities to preserve and promote Mongolian pastoralism with its unique nomadic traditions of managing natural resources. We have a wide network of nomadic herders throughout the country that will be happy to show their hospitality to anyone interested in their livelihoods. Proceeds from our tours go entirely back into rangeland management activities to preserve nature and prevent rangeland degradation and soil erosion.

Mongolia is made up of six different ecoregions that are different in terms of vegetation and soil characteristics. We have prepared one to five-day trip packages in four of these wonderful ecoregions of Mongolia. You will have the opportunity to visit one of these ecoregions:  forest steppe, steppe, high mountain or desert steppe. Over the ast few years, NFPUG developed State and Transition Modules (STMs) for each group of ecological sites within these ecoregions, including triggers and drivers that caused changes in the vegetation communities, and specific management recommendations.
