The Mongolian National Federation of Pasture Users Groups organized online training on “Impact of livestock tax on animal husbandry and rangeland management” for members of Citizen Representatives Khural, livestock specialists, land officers, bagh governors, heads of soum association of pasture user groups (APUG), pasture user group (PUG) leaders of Sumber and Undurshireet soums of Tuv aimag which are model soums of GGAHP. Moreover, Kh. Myagmarsuren, executive director of aimag federation of pasture user groups (AFed) of Tuv aimag participated in this training.
The aim of the training was to address the issues of rangeland management through the livestock tax, to spend it on livestock and rangeland management as a source of "Local Development Fund", the principles to be followed in setting the livestock tax and the appropriate location for raising livestock through tax policy, size regulation, preservation of traditional location of dominant species in ecological regions, an appropriate volume of breeding livestock sales, development of pasture use plan (seasonal use of pasture, rotational grazing, construction of green conveyor, soilless cultivation), traceability system of livestock raw materials (RMTS) have been discussed. In addition, knowledge on determining current status of rangeland condition, quality changes, and estimating carrying capacity, conducting photo monitoring, adjusting herding methods and management, and raising financial resources presented by trainers.
During the training, representatives of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, National Center for Livestock Genetic Resources, Inter-Aimag Otor Regional Administration, Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Research and Development Center, Department of Land Management, Geodesy and Cartography given information and best practices on the system development, policies and decisions within agricultural sector.
