Drive to Bayanlig. This soum can be identified as representative of two major ecoregions in Mongolia: Desert and Desert Steppe with dryland fauna and flora.

This tour will take you to Forest Steppe, located in Ikhtamir soum of Arkhangai province. On this trip you’ll see dozens of natural attractions such as: legendary Taikhar boulder, Khorgo (an inactive volcano) and Terkh White Lake (Terhin Tsagaan Nuur).

After arriving in the center of Khovd aimag, our guests will be driven to Duut soum, which is located 100 km west of Khovd, 2400 m above sea level. The majority of soum population is comprised of different ethnic groups like Uriankhai, Uuld, Khalkh, and Kazakhs.

Demo sites are used to show herders the impact of improved grazing management and reducing grazing density. Two different sites will expose different levels of rangeland recovery. A local researcher will guide you through the sites

The National Federation of Pasture User Groups (NFPUG) is a national NGO representing the vital interests of Mongolian herders and is engaged in a wealth of activities to preserve and promote Mongolian pastoralism with its unique nomadic traditions of managing natural resources.

The Arbulag soum of Khuvsgul aimag has been involved in the project "Green Gold and Animal Health" funded by SDC in 2016.Over the short period, since the project launched in this sum,  Mr. Sergelen Uurtuya, the head of soum association of Pasture User Groups (APUG) has been initiatively working, gaining full trust of herders.

Khuvtsagaan Altantsetseg has appointed as a leader of Bat-Ulzii soum association of pasture user groups (PUGs) in May 2017 and through her hardworking skill, the activities of Bat-Ulzii soum has been very successful. Although they had established 19 PUGs in the soum level, we they to decrease the number of pasture user groups due to the traditional livestock herding lifestyle.

The "Mongol Yak-2017" festival was successfully held in the legendary Taikhar steppe of Ikh Tamir soum, Arkhangai aimag, from 9-12 August 2017.

The government's livestock tax law is based on the principle that the soum civil society representative sets the tax rate and decides on how to spend the budget. Mongolian National Federation of Pasture User Groups surveyed to inform herder’s opinion and interest to policymakers about the livestock tax.
