The Arbulag soum of Khuvsgul aimag has been involved in the project "Green Gold and Animal Health" funded by SDC in 2016.Over the short period, since the project launched in this sum,  Mr. Sergelen Uurtuya, the head of soum association of Pasture User Groups (APUG) has been initiatively working, gaining full trust of herders.

Khuvtsagaan Altantsetseg has appointed as a leader of Bat-Ulzii soum association of pasture user groups (PUGs) in May 2017 and through her hardworking skill, the activities of Bat-Ulzii soum has been very successful. Although they had established 19 PUGs in the soum level, we they to decrease the number of pasture user groups due to the traditional livestock herding lifestyle.

The "Mongol Yak-2017" festival was successfully held in the legendary Taikhar steppe of Ikh Tamir soum, Arkhangai aimag, from 9-12 August 2017.

The government's livestock tax law is based on the principle that the soum civil society representative sets the tax rate and decides on how to spend the budget. Mongolian National Federation of Pasture User Groups surveyed to inform herder’s opinion and interest to policymakers about the livestock tax.

The MNFPUG and Pasture User Groups (PUGs) of the Khuvsgul and Zavkhan aimags have jointly organized meetings with approximately 260 herders from the baghs of Renchinjugnai, Burheer, Uranhairhan, Jargalant, and Zuunmod in Tsetserleg soum.

On May 22, 2017, the Mongolian National Federation of Pasture User Groups (MNFPUG) and the Khuvsgul Pasture Users Group (KPUG) organized a Pasture Users Consultative Convention.

The "Green Gold and Livestock Health" project and the Mongolian National Federation of Pasture User Groups (MNFPUG), in cooperation with Khangain Sor LLC, carried out a week-long vocational training program for handmade yak and sheep wool products in Arvaikheer soum, Uvurkhangai aimag. 15 women, selected from herder communities in the soums of Arkhangai, Uvurkhangai, Bayankhongor and Khuvsgul, attended the training.

The Consultative Convention of the Pasture Users of Dornod Aimag [Province] was held in Kherlen soum on May 31, 2017. A total of 50 participants attended the convention. This included delegates from the soums of Tsagaan Ovoo and Bayan-Uul (where the "Green Gold" project was initiated in 2016), the Soum [district] Governors of Choibalsan (where the project will commence this year),

At the initiative of Mongolian National Federation of PUGs, the first National Rangeland Forum was held between 27-28 September. The main objective of the Forum is to create a national platform to provide opportunities for all relevant stakeholders to exchange experiences and ideas, and promote best practices to ensure sustainable use of Mongolian rangelands.

The engineers and advisors from the Mongolian Wool and Cashmere Association have completed a training of trainers on sustainable wool and cashmere production and received their Certification of Completion.

“LANDex training on land governance assessment and monitoring” was organized in Ulaanbaatar. Representatives from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Mongolia, and Kyrgyzstan participated in the Asian Regional Training, organized by the Green Alliance for Environment and Development on May 21-22 with the support of the International Land Coalition (ILC). The training provided an overview of the Land Governance Monitoring Index data, expected results and objectives, an introduction to Land Governance Monitoring, indicators and methodologies, and information on data sources, global and national levels.

The State Great Hural, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation's Green Gold and Animal Health Projects held a national discussion on "Creating a Legal Environment for Rangeland Use and Protection" at Government House. is organized. In addition to the Speaker, members of the State Great Hural, members of the Government, officials of the Office of the President of Mongolia, relevant ministries and agencies, 850 representatives of the Citizens' Representatives Hurals of 21 aimags, heads of Food and Agriculture Departments, herders and farmers participated in the national discussion. More than a dozen people are involved.

In addition to being in charge of rangeland research and experimentation in Mongolia, I consider myself a professional researcher who has dedicated half a century of my life to the planning and implementation of research work by research institutes and other researchers.
